Accessibility statement
Last updated
This website is used by people who are worried, tired, often older, and frequently on a phone in a hospital corridor. Making it easy to use is not an add-on.
What we aim for
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. In practice, that means:
- Text and background colours have been checked for contrast, and body text is set slightly larger than the usual default
- Every part of the site can be used with a keyboard alone, and focus is always visible
- Headings, landmarks and lists are marked up properly for screen readers
- Form fields have permanent visible labels, and errors are described in words rather than by colour
- Animation is minimal, and it stops entirely if your device is set to reduce motion
- The site works at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling
- Images carry meaningful alternative text, and decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers
Things we know about
- Some Care Journal articles contain tables, which can be awkward to read on a very narrow screen.
- Where documents are added for download in future, we will publish them in an accessible format. [TO CONFIRM — update this once any PDFs are published.]
